The first featured international film that depicts Lao culture, The Rocket, has received many international awards.

The war torn past of Laos has been relegated to the edges of history, overshadowed by the greater international impact of the war in Vietnam. Now, a new film is trying to do something to bring the long-term consequences of the conflict in Laos out of the shadows.
