A bridge connecting Tarchilaik Township in Shan State and Lwenintha Province of Laos is due to be completed by March of 2015.

The Myanmar-Laos Friendship Bridge will be 691.6 meters long and 8.5 meter wide.  Myanmar signed an agreement with Laos on March 22 last year to build the bridge. Thirty-five percent of construction is now completed.

The Union Minister for Construction in Myanmar, the Shan State Chief Minister, the Minister for Public Works and Transport from Laos and the administrator of Luang Namtha Province attended the stake driving ceremony held on February 16 of this year.
